The Brief
Here for the Girls, a nonprofit supporting breast cancer survivors and women still in the fight, came to our agency for its annual fundraising calendar. The 2020 theme was the Roaring Twenties and the women who captivated the decade.
Problem
The organization wasn’t sure how to bring the 1920s to life through design, styling, and art direction. They wanted something that went beyond 12 months of flapper costumes.
Design Intent
I designed the full calendar and its companion care guide, and planned the styling and art direction for each model, from jazz singers and showgirls to flappers and newsboy chic, along with props like an oversized newspaper. The 1920s weren’t just black, white, and gold, so I drew on the color, illustration, and bold typography of vintage Art Deco posters. The cover was the highlight: four of the women illustrated in their 1920s personas in that same stylized poster style.
Outcome
The calendar debuted at a successful launch gala and helped the organization meet its fundraising goal. Six years later, the founders still call it their biggest hit.
